What Is Makeup To You?

Makeup has always been something I've used to transform my confidence. I still remember every morning sitting on the floor of my bedroom with my liquid liner, brow pomade and full coverage foundation sprawled out doing a full face at 5am, because who could leave the house without their eyebrows in high school, right?

My parents always gave me full creative freedom when it came to makeup. I've worn eyelashes since I was in middle school, done my eyeliner on the way to soccer practice and now every morning I start my day with calming LOFI music (or a podcast) doing my daily skin care regimen and my go to 20 minute makeup look. I truly do believe when you look good you feel good! To me, that's the power of makeup!

In 2015 I graduated cosmetology school and at first wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my license. The world of beauty has endless opportunities you can build off of. The one thing I always knew, I wanted people to feel see how beautiful they truly were because of me! Women are taught at a young age we should look a certain way. There is this unspoken standard we are to uphold of always looking (to whatever standard modern day would describe) beautiful. Through the power of makeup I taught not only myself, but strive to teach my clients we as women are all so beautiful in our own way! I love complementing my clients on their, in my opinion best features and am always left shocked when I hear "I hate my nose", "I wish my eyebrows looked like yours", "I know I'll never be as pretty as this celebrity" when everything they see as their flaws I love about them!

My favorite part about makeup is it can be used in so many ways. Evening out your complexions, brightening your under eyes, enlarging your eyes and so much more! These small three steps I can use to bring so much joy to all my clients, future and past, and is something I hope to do for the rest of my life.

That's why of all the avenues I was presented with in beauty school, I was brought right back where I started on the floor of my childhood bedroom - through the power of makeup.

Mekinzie was the makeup artist for my wedding this month and let me say, she is amazing. She is SO accommodating and listens to what you are asking for. We had her travel to Estes Park (from Denver) for the wedding and she was prompt, organized, and ready to roll at 6:30am! Mekinzie made everyone feel so comfortable and beautiful when her work was done! We even did a second trial when I changed my mind about style and she was more than happy to oblige. 10000/10 recommend her!
